United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly }

The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Was Held In August 2013

The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) was co-hosted by Zambia and Zimbabwe in August 2013.

In order to prepare for such a feat Zambia had embarked on the expansion project of Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport.

Southern Province permanent secretary Dr Chileshe Mulenga undertook a tour of the construction project in October 2012.

“From what I have seen and what you have told me this will no doubt be one of the best airports in the region.” – Dr Mulenga said after a briefing by airport manager Joseph Mumbi
The general assembly is expected to trigger an unprecedented increase in air passenger traffic into and out of Lusaka and Livingstone. It is expected that hundreds of local and foreign delegates will arrive in Livingstone, via the Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport.

Location of the airport

The airport lies five kilometres from the tourist capital and 15 kilometres from the Victoria Falls, which is a world heritage site and attracts both local and foreign tourist throughout the year.
