Zambian Inflation For February 2017 Goes Down To 6.8%

The rate for the Zambian inflation for February 2017 went further down again to 6.8 percent from 7 percent reported in January 2017. This means that over the 12 months to February 2017 prices increased by only 6.8 percent.

Announcing the annual the Zambia February 2017 annual inflation rate on 23rd February 2017, the Director of Central Statistics Office Mr John Kalumbi said the reduction in the rate was due to price changes of non-food items.

However, the monthly inflation rate rose from 0.9 percent in January 2017 to 1.0 percent in February 2017.

Provincial Contribution To The Zambian Inflation For February 2017

Just like in previous months Lusaka province had the inflation rate at 1.8 percentage points, followed by Southern Province and Eastern Province at 1.1 percentage points each. The least contributor was Western Province at 0.2 percentage points.

January 2017 Zambia Trade Deficit

The country recorded a trade deficit of K 275.6 million in the month of January 2017 compared to the trade deficit of K 754.2 million recorded in December 2016. This means that the country imported more in January 2017 than it exported in nominal terms.
