Zambia International Airports

The Zambia International Airports are under National Airports Corporation Limited (NACL), the leading provider of first class Airport facilities, ground handling and Air Navigation services in the Zambian airspace.

The three of the four international airports have been renamed after the distinguished founding fathers as follows:

Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, formally Lusaka International Airport, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport, formally Livingstone International Airport and Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport formally Ndola International Airport.

At all these four International Airports, there are facilities for passengers, Air Navigation services, retail space, ground handling and transports and accommodation arrangement for cabin crew.

So, here are a few details about the airports…

Kenneth Kaunda International Airport

The airport which was opened in 1967 is situated in the Capital city of Zambia and is only 27 kilometres from the main business district.

Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport

The Airport is near the Seven Wonders of the Word, The Victoria Falls, "Mosi–oa–tunya". It is the second oldest airport after Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe in Ndola.

It situated Just 5 kilometres from Livingstone town, the nation’s tourist capital and 15 kilometres from the Victoria Falls.

The Airport was built in 1950 for a predominantly domestic market but has now been upgraded to international standards.

Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport

The airport was originally set up as a Military base for the Royal Air Force (England). It was built in 1938 to service the British army during the second world war, and was opened as a civilian Airport in the 1950's.

It is located about 3 kilometres south of the Ndola City business district.

Mfuwe International Airport

Mfuwe International Airport opened in 1970, is located in the middle of South Luangwa National Park, one of the largest national game parks in Zambia. The airport services daily flights from Lusaka to Mfuwe and direct flights from Mfuwe to Lilongwe.
