Victoria Falls Video

This page has been created for you to enjoy the Victoria Falls Video!

When I first beheld the magnificence of the Victoria Falls, I was so moved that I thought I would share this experience with the world at large. In hurry to view the video? Click the button below…

Facts and figures of the Victoria Falls

The falls is Zambia's only UNESCO World Heritage site which was listed in 1989.

The falls that you see here is where the Mighty Zambezi River drops its entire width of 1,700 meters (1.7 km) over a 108-meter vertical wall into a narrow gorge.

The volume of water over the falls ranges between 300 - 3,000 cubic feet per second - the annual mean volume is said to be just over 1,000 cubic meters per second or 38,000 cubic feet per second or one million liters per second – Mist generated by the falls can be seen and felt from several kilometers away.

Victoria Falls lunar rainbow

The Victoria Falls is sometimes opened to the public at night for tourists to view the lunar rainbow.

This is the only place in the world where you could view the lunar rainbow. The other water fall which used to have this spectacular view was the Niagara Falls in America, but lighting system of New York City has distorted the lunar rainbow.

The lunar rainbow appears during high water levels. To get a lunar rainbow you need a full spray for the moon’s light to shine through on nights that are clear so that the clouds do not obscure the moon.

Depending on the moons position, the rainbow takes different shapes by rising form the gorge to the Falls’ lip and rising from the gorge away from the lip.

One tourist from the United Kingdom said: “the lunar rainbow should be viewed by everybody – even children, it is just so unreal to be real.”

Hey, next time you come to Zambia do not forget to visit the Victoria Falls!
