The October 2013 Zambian inflation rate decreased to 6.9 percent from 7 percent recorded in August. The CSO (Central Statistical Office) attributed the drop down to a reduction in the annual food inflation rate which decreased from 6.5 percent recorded in September to 5.9 percent in October.
Of the total 6.9 percent inflation, food and non-alcoholic beverage products accounted for 3.1 percentage points and non-food products accounted for 3.8 percentage points.
