The Northern Technical College (Established in 1956) has come a long way and it can boast of the large number of its former students who are today in gainful employment in various sectors of the economy.
It has produced Technologists, Technicians and Crafts men and women who today are contributing to the development of the Zambian economy.
The college (NORTEC) is located in “the friendly city” of Ndola on the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. NORTEC has two campuses; the first campus, which is the main campus, houses the administrative offices and Training Departments, and the second campus, has four hostels and a sports fields.

The NORTEC is registered with TEVETA and the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
It falls under the Ministry Of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education. The college strives to provide the highest quality Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship education in accordance with its mission statement which states;
NORTEC provides high quality Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TEVET) at certificate, diploma and higher levels; effectively and efficiently, to continuously meet training needs of the clients in collaboration with stakeholders.
Chirundu town is found at about 95 kilometers from Kafue town or 139 kilometers from Lusaka City. Chirundu town is at the border with Zambia and Zimbabwe.
As of 24 February 2017 Chipata became a city, making a total of five cities in Zambia, namely Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola and Livingstone!
