The Central Statistical Office (CSO) announced that the March 2014 Zambian Inflation rate rose marginally to 7.7 per cent compared to 7.6 per cent recorded in February 2014.
This means that on average, prices increased by 7.7 per cent between March 2013 and March 2014.Food items accounted for 3.9 percentage points while non-food items accounted for 3.8 percentage points.
Northern Province and Muchinga Province contributed the highest to the overall inflation followed by Western Province. Central Province contributed the least.
The other percentage of exports amounting to 15.5 per cent was from the raw materials, consumer goods and capital goods categories.
