Here's my question to ask about Zambia.

What is the structure of Technical and Vocational Teachers College (TVTC) in Luanshya? What types of courses are offered? And are there any planned or future collaborations for the school?

Distance Learning Period

Please let TVTC increase the weeks that we students spend when we come for our residential as Distance Students.

Initially we knew TVTC offering a 3 weeks duration for distance learning but now the 1 week is too short for one to grasp the concept.

One thing I like about the college is that they are principled when it comes to teaching they follow the timetable, but please increase the residential period.

We love our College.

Do Away With Assignments At TVTC

It's true that merely memorizing learning material does not add any value to any training programme or graduate. One cause of declining standards at TVTC is the wholesale adoption of assignments as a mode of assessing students' achievement.

Most students simply copy or ask their friends or relatives to do the assignments for them. Others merely download the solutions from the Internet, and the poor lecturers do not question all this. Some lecturers were giving us assignments just to ensure that nobody failed coursework before writing the final examinations.

My advice is that the college should shift from assignments to tests to properly gauge attainment. Those group assignments do more harm than good. Affiliation to UNZA has not helped any matters at all - whatever their linkage is meant to achieve.

Degree Courses

Is the college having future plans for degree courses?

I feel it is long over due and hence management should do something about it. There are many universities mushrooming in the country.

What is Management doing about TVTC advancement in as far as degree courses are concerned?

Pedagogies

The system of training students under pressure is not adding any value to TVTC graduates. Students do not assimilate the pedagogies; instead they memorize the material so as to pass the exams. TVTC standards are slowly dwindling and consequently half-baked products.
