The April 2015 Zambian inflation rate remained unchanged at 7.2 per cent, just like that recorded for March 2015.
Meanwhile, the Zambian Trade deficit recorded in March 2015 was the highest this year i.e., from January 2015 to March 2015.
The deficit for March 2015 was recorded at K 310 million, from K 107.3 million recorded in March 2015.
CSO principal statistician and head of International Trade Statistics, Mr Joseph Tembo who announced the April 2015 inflation rate on 30th April 2015 in Lusaka said that the deficit was the biggest this year. He said the country in the month of March imported more than exports in nominal terms.
The trade deficit was the second highest on Zambia’s record. In November 2013 a trade deficit of K 327 million was recorded.
Another trade deficit of similar magnitude was recorded in the year 2009, at K 275 million.
