The Zambia People With More Than 70 Languages Spoken!
About 90 percent of the Zambia people belong to tribes which speak Kaonde, Lunda, Bemba, Nyanja, Lozi, Tonga and Luvale. In fact more than 70 other languages are spoken. The official language is English. The Population Of Zambia In 2005 the population of Zambia was estimated at 12 million people, and about half of this population lives in urban areas in towns such as Kitwe, Mufulira, Luanshya, Ndola Chingola, Chililabobwe and Lusaka, the capital city. Apart from Lusaka, the rest are mining towns.The country is known to be the most urbanized in Africa. Yes, people have moved from villages to towns. This migration has put a strain on the few resources in towns, resulting in mushrooming of shanty towns with no electricity and proper sanitation. The biggest industry in the country is mining, but about 85 percent of Zambians depend on agriculture and 6 percent in service industry. The Zambian people comprise of over 98 percent Africans 1.1 percent European and 0.2 percent from other races.
Music Despite the modernized Zambia, many traditional instruments are still played. Here, you will find the hand piano – an instrument mounted on a rectangular box and plucked by both hands - and of course the Zambian Drum. However, the truth should be told here, the young generation has been swayed by the western world music and this has mainly been driven by a new crop of young Zambian musicians. Clubs, taverns and any place of entertainment in Zambian towns have joined the modern westernized band wagon – this has even started encroaching the rural areas as well!

In fact, Christians are by far the majority followed, by Islam and Hindu. There is still a minority which follows traditional beliefs.
