Zambezi Airlines began operations in July 2008. It is a privately owned airline, whose headquarters are in Lusaka and its main hub of operation is Lusaka International Airport. 2 Boeing 737-500 aircraft On 4th June 2009, the Airline commenced regional operations using two Boeing 737-500 aircraft, offering both Economy and Premier Business Class service. Some of the routes are Lusaka - Johannesburg and vv; Livingstone – Johannesburg and vv; Ndola – Johannesburg and vv and Lusaka to Dar es Salaam and vv.

GECAS
The aircraft are leased from GECAS, one of the worlds leading aviation leasing companies and are maintained by Safari in Johannesburg.
Vision of the airline
The airline intends to expand its route network by “continued development of services to and from Zambia through strategic partnerships with other airlines”.
And speaking of continued development…
On 20th October 2009, the Airline, in partner ship with AIR Nambia introduced daily flights between Lusaka and the Namibian capital Windhoek, via Johannesburg.
Speaking during the launch of the route , the Airline's chief executive officer Cornwell Muleya said “the flights were the first imprints of the strategic partnerships that the airline would be entering into to increase its presence in the region”.
