Makoma Dam

When in Luanshya, would you like to have plenty of fresh air and water? Go to Makoma Dam. Indeed, after a hard day’s work or if you want to relax at the weekend, this is the place for you.

Makoma was man made; a result of the process of tailings undertaken during the processing of copper in the old days when Luanshya was at its height. And this place has been a crowd puller for as long as I could remember.

It is not far off from the Luanshya town center, just about 8 km. So even if you don’t have your own car you can easily book a cab at a minimal cost.

As I have stated on other pages such on the Luanshya mine opened, I was living in this town before I left for greener pastures in 2000.

So on April 17, 2010, I decided to pay a visit to this old town. Is the place still there? Yes it is!

The place was a good resort when it was under mine management. But as you can see from pictures above, it hasn’t lost its glory of the “good old days”.

Now, it is managed by a committee.

Feel At Home

When you are there you will feel at home; there is a fully stocked bar, showers for bathing and meals are provided…
