Chirundu Town

Chirundu town is 95 kilometers from Kafue town or 139 kilometers from Lusaka.

Spectacular Road To Chirundu

When you are approaching Chirundu from Kafue town, just after Siavonga turn-off, less than a kilometer on the right hand side, there is a plaque showing the Chirundu Forest Reserve, an area of petrified trees. The reserve is a listed National monument of Zambia.

When you reach the turn-off to Siavonga town, you are only 18 kilometers away from Chirundu! Right at this turn-off you can buy mementos such as carved wooden animals and drums.

Chirundu border post is a small town but quite a busy one. Everyday you find hundreds of trucks crossing into Zambia from Zimbabwe and vice versa as shown in the picture below…

Compounds

Chirundu border has its share of compounds and residential areas named as: Appolo, Border, Garbon, Chibaketi, Mission compound, Zesco compound, Mazyongololo, High cost and government complex.

Also, found in one of these compounds is Ngambino – the only night club in Chirundu.

Banks

Despite its size, you will find three banks. As you enter Chirundu border post from Kafue town you will identify Zanaco (Zambia National Commercial Bank) and Finance bank. These are in the so called Dry Port (the place where trucks park before they clear en route to Zambia or Zimbabwe).

As you approach towards Zimbabwe, you will find Barclays bank.
